Our origination team is the first point of contact for lawyers, brokers, introducers and claimants who want to explore litigation funding. Our origination team can answer questions about litigation funding, assess whether a matter is suitable for a funding application, provide in-firm training, assist with client pitches, help with firm marketing and work to approve law firms for an Augusta funding facility.
Neill is a co-founder of Augusta Ventures and oversees the claim diligence and monitoring functions of the business. He has over 30 years’ experience in the finance market.
Prior to joining Augusta, Neil worked for HSBC Alternative Investments where he was Head of Sales and Marketing. He was also CEO and founding partner of Armajaro Asset Management, a $1.5bn hedge fund management group. Neill previously held roles at EIM UK assessing potential hedge fund investments, and was Managing Director for Quantitative Research at Salomon Smith Barney in both Australia and London. In the early part of his career Neill was a Derivatives Manager within the investment team at Royal & Sun Alliance in Australia.
Neill holds a BEc from the University of Western Australia and an MCom from the University of New South Wales.

Philip is an Investment Manager in Augusta’s diligence team and solicitor of the Courts of England and Wales.
Before joining Augusta, Philip worked at city firm Elborne Mitchell LLP where he was a member of the shipping and commercial litigation/arbitration departments, acting on a range of commercial disputes in both arbitration and the High Court.
Philip holds a LLB from the University of Sussex, where he graduated with First Class Honours.

Business Development Manager
In 1999 Michelle established one of the first and highly successful litigation funders in Australia and New Zealand and was its managing director for the next 15 years. She combined her entrepreneurial skills and legal background to source and fund unfair preference and insolvent trading claims by liquidators, professional negligence claims, general commercial claims and class actions.
Previously, Michelle was Legal Claims Manager at Lawcover before moving to a general insurance company where she set up a business unit focusing on the funding of insolvency cases. Michelle gained experience as a litigator in professional indemnity and commercial claims at a leading law firm – DLA Piper.
Now with Augusta Ventures, Michelle’s role is with the origination team.
Michelle holds BA and LLB degrees from the University of NSW.
