Our origination team is the first point of contact for lawyers, brokers, introducers and claimants who want to explore litigation finance. Our origination team can answer questions about litigation funding, assess whether a matter is suitable for a funding application, provide in-firm training, assist with client pitches, help with firm marketing and work to approve law firms for an Augusta funding facility.

Louis Young

Managing Director
Louis Young

Louis is a co-founder of Augusta Ventures and oversees the origination team.

Prior to joining Augusta, Louis was CEO of another third party litigation fund.  He was also previously COO of Normandy Capital Management and has been MD of a number of international and Australian businesses including Australian Gold Holdings Limited, Colonial Building Company Limited and Steelview Limited. In addition to his experience in investment banking, fund management, company start-up and restructuring arenas, Louis spent 17 years working in Asia and Africa, where he established and successfully sold two businesses, DrillintiTiko and Drillinti Africa Limited

Louis holds an MBA and an LLB from Bond University.

Robert Hanna

Managing Director
Robert Hanna

Robert is a co-founder of Augusta Ventures and oversees lead generation.

Robert has spent over 20 years in the hedge fund industry, initially as head of sales for the International Equity Finance department of Merrill Lynch International based in London, and then as global head of marketing and sales for the Equity Finance Department of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith based in New York. He subsequently co-founded Mako Investment Managers, a multihedge fund asset manager, acting as Chief Investment Officer.

Robert holds an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management and an LLB (Hons).

Jeunesse Edwards

Director of Strategic Engagement
Jeunesse Edwards

Jeunesse is responsible for engaging with the legal and professional services industry.

Prior to joining Augusta, Jeunesse worked at a group action case management start-up where she held the position of General Manager, with responsibilities ranging from development of the bespoke online platform, to client contact of 5,000 claimants, to instructing the legal representatives on key elements of the claim. Throughout her career Jeunesse has worked within organisations of different sizes and structures in the legal and finance sectors, from start-ups to large investment banks. Jeunesse has also previously worked in a number of law firms and for legal charities, where she worked across a range of litigation departments.

Jeunesse holds a BA (Hons) in Law with Environmental Sciences from Oxford Brookes University and obtained her Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.

Rebekah Weiler

Business Development Director
Rebekah Weiler

Rebekah joined Augusta as  Business Development Director in February 2016. She is responsible for working with law firms to enable them to provide their clients with litigation funding and after the event insurance to hedge risk, provide cash flow, and maximise net recovery.  In addition to business development Rebekah also manages Augusta’s marketing.

Rebekah has extensive experience in the Litigation Finance world.  Prior to joining Augusta, she served as Associate Director of the UK’s largest litigation funding and after-the event insurance brokerage where she worked to source litigation finance for a variety of high-value commercial cases.Outside the litigation funding world, Rebekah previously worked in a number of diverse roles, including a prestigious position in the Office of the Director at U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C., where she advised top U.S. officials and helped develop policy in the area of e-discovery. Her past experience also includes working at a Barrister’s chambers in London, as well as a coveted legal internship at the Appellate Division of the New York State Court system where she worked to prosecute cases of professional misconduct.

Rebekah is NY barred Attorney and read law at Magalen College, Oxford. She holds a BA (Hons) in English from The University of New York, A Juris Doctorate (Hons)  from Albany Law School of Union University, and an L.LM in International Law from University College London.

Tom Blackburn

Business Development Director
Tom Blackburn

Tom is a highly experienced cost and funding expert, skilled in all areas of funding and costs-related litigation.

Prior to joining Augusta, Tom worked for Irwin Mitchell LLP where he was a Partner and head of department. His client base comprised of insurers, in-house counsel, magic and silver circle law firms, boutique specialist litigation firms and ATE providers. Tom’s previous extensive experience in commercial litigation means that he not only understands funding from a solicitor’s perspective, but he also realises the importance of clarity to lay clients.

Tom is a member of the Parliamentary Working Party advising on the use of ADR in claims. An advocate of the use of ADR, he has been involved in multiple high value mediations and other forms of ADR. Tom is a CPD approved trainer and often runs bespoke in-house training sessions on the use of creative retainers, funding and costs.

Tina Morgan

Tina Morgan

Tina is a Barrister and works in Augusta’s origination department as a Business Development Director.

Prior to joining Augusta, Tina ran her own business capturing commercial litigation claims for a panel of reputable law firms.  Before this, she worked as business development manager for a firm of costs lawyers and office manager for another law firm.

Tina acquired her love of business during her role as in-house counsel for Autoglass Limited following her qualification as a barrister and her practise in both civil and criminal law from a small set of chambers in Farringdon.

Tina has an LLB (Hons) from Hertfordshire University and a qualification as a Barrister from the Inns of Court School of Law.

Samiksha Gosain

Samiksha Gosain

Samiksha is responsible for generating and maintaining relationships within the legal industry and with claimants directly.

Prior to joining Augusta, Samiksha worked as a dedicated litigation paralegal at Clearly Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. During her time at Cleary she worked on a number of multimillion pound cross jurisdictional matters representing sovereign states, corporate banks and high net worth individuals. Samiksha has also previously worked in the litigation teams of numerous magic circle and regional firms, as well as working on a number of pro bono projects and volunteering at her local Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

Samiksha holds an LLB (Hons) from King’s College London and obtained her Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School.

Mehmet Salih

Mehmet Salih

Mehmet is a Business Development Associate as part of the Origination team, working on preliminary due diligence, responsible for maintaining relationships with law firms and claimants directly.

Prior to working at Augusta, Mehmet worked as a legal consultant, advising for legal and management consultancy firms on regulatory, legal, finance, marketing and organisational structures. He has also worked as a key paralegal and litigation assistant to partners of London based firms, whilst managing his time between a myriad of civil law work, business development projects and as a fee earner of over 150 cases.

Mehmet holds a LLB (Hons) from The University of Hertfordshire.
