Workers employed as ‘casuals’ in the black Coal mining industry by Hays Recruitment in the last six years are invited to register their interest.
The matter is being run by Adero Law, a specialist in employment law and class actions.
Numerous workers were treated as ‘casuals’ under the Black Coal Industry Mining Award 2010 while performing roles which cannot be ‘casual’ under that award. The class members are alleging underpayment of entitlements including: annual leave, paid sick leave, allowances/penalties, overtime and redundancy/termination notice payments due to that misclassification.
Adero Law has identified a representative claimant and intends to file proceedings shortly.
